FAQ
What is the Wine Trade Network?
Wine Trade Network is a trustworthy, revolutionary, alternative source of wines to the trade, working within the framework of local regulations and in conjunction with local distributors to provide unprecedented access to the business to business wine transactions. WTN facilitates expression and differentiation by providing a consolidated source of quality wines from niche producers. WTN provides marketing and administrative services to wineries, distributors, and trade accounts, aggregating a portfolio of wines for your selection. WTN acts as a marketing agent for trade accounts, bringing them to the wholesalers and creating greater exposure for wineries within any given market. The Wine Trade Network operates within the existing laws and regulations of each state providing the winery with the maximum benefits available.
Can any winery participate?
All of WTN’s winery customers may participate in the Wine Trade Network. Any new winery can also participate. First a winery contracts WTN Services for pick, pack, and ship services and transfers some inventory to WTN in Napa (and / or NY) for the Wine Trade Network. Wineries participating in the Wine Trade Network must participate in ALL AVAILABLE STATES, and must hold active non-resident dealer licenses in those states (and have brands registered to WTN partner wholesalers).
How does a restaurant place an order for a case of wine?
A restaurant will go to the Wine Trade Nework site (www.winetradenetwork.com) and register for an account in the “My Account” or “Sign In” section of the site. They will enter their information in a similar fashion to that of a direct-to-consumer purchase with the addition of their liquor license number. Then people at Wine Trade Network will verify that the liquor license is current and in good standing and then provides access to the wholesale product pricing. The restaurant would then shop for products and checkout in a similar fashion to that of a direct-to-consumer purchase. A distributor AND the winery are notified of the purchase, but the wine will ship from WTN directly to the restaurant without it ever physically coming in contact with the distributor.
What are the benefits to participating in the Wine Trade Network?
• New Market Access: wineries can now enter new markets.
• Brand Control: control and oversee where your products are sold and how they are represented.
• Direct Customer Relationships: the winery owns the relationship with customers.
Who pays for the shipping?
Shipments come from WTN Services, and costs are paid by the trade account. Wine Tasting Network has locations in Napa, CA and in Albany, NY from which a winery can fulfill east coast orders. This helps greatly reduce the cost of shipping for orders going to NY and other east coast states.
How much does it cost to participate in the Wine Trade Network?
There are standard brand registration, price-posting, permit fees, etc. charged by each state, but WTN does not mark up these costs.
Which states are currently available through the WineTradeNetwork?
Currently New York, California, Florida and Texas are open and ready. In the up coming 3 months we will launch Illinois, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Nevada. WTN will add an additional 5 states by EOY 2010.
